What Is Lignum PRO I‑62.5

Lignum PRO I‑62.5 is a professional‑grade insecticidal concentrate designed for treating and protecting timber against wood‑boring insects such as woodworm. It is part of the Lignum PRO range of timber treatment products, developed for use under the UK/EU Biocidal Products Regulations.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Active Ingredient: Contains Permethrin at a concentration of 62.5g/L. Permethrin is a well‑known synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, effective against most wood damaging insects in all life stages (eggs, larvae, adult).
  • Micro‑emulsion Technology: The product uses micro‑emulsion formulation producing particles of very small (nanometre) size, which allows deeper penetration into timber so the insecticide reaches infestations within.
  • Zero VOCs / Non‑Flammable: It is water‑based, non‑flammable, and contains no Volatile Organic Compounds, making it safer to use, particularly indoors.
  • Quick Drying & Low Odour: Once applied (by brush or low pressure spray), it dries fairly quickly, and has very little odour.
  • Dual Action: It both eradicates active infestations and prevents future infestations.
  • Standards / Certification: Certified under BS EN standards for insecticidal timber treatments. The product is approved and supported under the European Biocidal Products Regulation [528/2012].

How It Is Used / Application

  • Dilution: The concentrate is diluted with clean water. For example, mixing 1L of concentrate with 24L of water gives about 25L of treatment fluid.
  • Methods of Application: Can be applied by brush or low‑pressure spray. Ensure timber surfaces are clean and free of dust/dirt to allow good penetration.
  • Coverage & Rates: Typical coverage depends on whether it is a preventive or curative treatment. As examples:

Treatment Type

Approx Application Rate

Presentative

~200ml/m² ( 1L per 5m²)

Curative (active infestation)

~300ml/m² ( 1L per ~3.3m²)

  • Overcoating / Finishes: Once dry, treated wood can be painted, stained or varnished. It’s advisable to test a small inconspicuous area first to check for any discolouration or finish changes.
  • Drying Times: It becomes touch‑dry typically in around an hour depending on ambient conditions; full dryness sufficient for overcoating may take longer.
